Cala Gonone's stunning natural scenery is best appreciated when arriving from Dorgali. Emerging from a tunnel that cuts through the bastion of the Bardia and Tului mountains, the scenery changes dramatically from rugged mountainous terrain with sharp peaks and jagged ridges to a vast sea panorama offering endless views of blue waters framed by a breathtaking backdrop of mountains, holm oak forests and valleys.
From Cala Gonone, a boat trip will take you to the famous Cala Luna beach, a precious gem that must be carefully protected, and to the Bue Marino cave. This cave, part of the karst system of the Supramonte massif, has a narrow entrance facing the sea and hides in its winding passages astonishing natural wonders, including some families of monk seals, the last remaining descendants of the glacial periods in the Mediterranean.
